Die in Passau geborene Künstlerin verbrachte in Fürstenfeldbruck prägende Jahre. In der Stadt an der Amper, die seit der Jahrhundertwende um 1900 schon so viele Künstlerinnen und Künstler inspiriert hat, fand sie die idealen Bedingungen vor, sich in der Zeit von 1966 bis 1986 vom Grundschulkind zur Malerin zu entwickeln.
Nach einer Ausbildung zur Kirchenmalerin studierte Gloria Gans an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste München bei Günter Fruhtrunk, Roland Helmer und Helmut Sturm Malerei und Grafik.

Ihr Werk erzählt vom Leben und vom zwischenmenschlichen Miteinander. Mit großer Empathie gibt sie ihren ganz persönlichen und kritischen Blick auf unterschiedliche Lebenswelten wieder.
Als Malerin konzentriert sie sich dabei auf Farbnuancen, Farbgegensätze und Farbstrukturen. Wie in der Musik entstehen Klänge, die intensive Emotionen erzeugen.
Ein im Bild mitgeliefertes Narrativ - die Auseinandersetzung mit Ungerechtigkeit, mit Krieg und Flucht - erscheint möglicherweise erst auf den zweiten Blick und hält nur solange, bis die Farbwirkung einen wieder ganz in ihren Bann zieht. Es ergibt sich ein Wechselspiel zwischen diesen beiden Wahrnehmungsebenen und die mitgelieferten Botschaften dringen so eher subtil und allmählich ins Bewusstsein.

Mit ihren Menschen-Bildern fordert Gloria Gans die Betrachtenden zu einem Dialog heraus. Fragen nach menschlichem Leid tauchen auf. Im Kontext des gesellschaftlich-politischen Diskurses um Flüchtlinge bezog die Künstlerin in den letzten Jahren ganz klar Stellung für einen humanitären Umgang mit Migrant:innen.
Seit den frühen 1990er Jahren präsentiert Gloria Gans ihre Werke immer wieder auch in Fürstenfeldbruck. Zahlreiche Künstlerfreundschaften verbinden sie bis heute eng mit der Amperstadt.
Die Publikation Gloria Gans, Farbe bekennen - Vier Jahrzehnte Malerei (29,- €) ist während der Ausstellungsdauer zum Sonderpreis von 24,- € im Museum erhätlich.

Gloria Gans – Showing True Colours
The artist, who was born in Passau, spent some of her formative years in Fürstenfeldbruck. Between 1966 and 1986, the town on the river 'Amper' which has inspired many an artist since the turn of the century in 1900 offered her ideal conditions to develop from a child at elementary school into a painter.
Following her apprenticeship as an ecclesiastical painter Gloria Gans went on to study painting and graphics under Günter Fruhtrunk, Roland Helmer and Helmut Sturm at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.
Her work talks about life, human beings, coexistence and human interaction. She presents her very own personal and critical view of the different worlds we live in with great empathy. As a painter she does so with her focus on colour, its shades, its contrasts and structures, thus creating ‘sounds’ capable of arousing deep emotions just as music does.
The narrative of a picture - reflections on injustice, war and the flight from conflicts - may only be apparent on second glance and only until the effect of the colours take hold of the viewer again. This results in a fascinating interplay between two levels of perception with the narrative entering the viewer’s mind very subtly and slowly.
Gloria Gans’ pictures of human beings challenge viewers to engage in a dialogue. Questions of human suffering come to mind. In the socio-political discourse on how we deal with refugees the artist has firmly placed herself among those demanding a humane treatment of migrants over the last few years.
Since the early 1990s the artist has repeatedly shown her work in Fürstenfeldbruck among other places and to this day, numerous friendships with fellow artists firmly tie her to the town on the 'Amper'.
